About the database

The RC3 Research Database is a collection of research publications – reports, papers and briefs – produced by the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement. Materials come from National Societies, IFRC Global and Regional Reference Centres, and other academic or scientific entities and initiatives within the Movement. The database was established by RC3 in 2021 to facilitate access to research produced by the RCRC Movement and serve as a resource for practitioners and academics working in the humanitarian field.

Methodology & Submission Process

The RC3 Research database includes research reports, papers and briefs submitted by RCRC entities to RC3. Most documents in the Database are in PDF format. Resources are organized following 9 primary research focus: Climate and environment; Disasters and crises; Health and wellbeing; Migration and displacement; Values, power and inclusion; Volunteering; Technology and Innovation; Humanitarian Systems and Practice; Armed Conflicts, Violence and IHL. All RCRC entities can submit research publications to the database using the submission form. Submissions must include a valid URL link to access the publication, ideally in PDF format. Published materials can be submitted as DOI links. Submissions are reviewed by the coordination team on a monthly basis before being added to the database.

How to use the database

To use the Database, start by selecting the type of document you’re looking for or entering search terms into the search bar. You can then apply filters to narrow your search. The Database has full-text search functionality, meaning that it retrieves documents from their contents (not only their title). An advanced-search function allows to search documents with specific terms in their title or other fields.
